Kill Devil Hills is the Outer Banks' oldest township, and Kill Devil Hill - the largest of the area's sand dunes, which once rose more than 100 feet high - was the sight of the Wright Brothers' historic flight. The town of Kill Devil Hills is bookended by the towns of Kitty Hawk and Nags Head.
